Apologies for the length between posts, it's been a hectic time of the year for me, and not much to write about anyways. This instalment of Talent Analysis is going to be a bit different than the first article on Matt Duchene. Today I'm going to throw a lot of numbers your way and we'll see how it goes. Devan Dubnyk is the subject of Talent Analysis today, so lets get it going.
Devan is a 27 year old goaltender and formerly a 1st round pick in 2004. (14th overall) Dubnyk currently occupies the starting role for the Edmonton Oilers, a loaded up and coming team. The question that has been floating around for the last several years is if he is a legitimate NHL starter or not. I did a little research on the numbers from this past lockout shortened season that might help clear the air.
Expectations
Realistically Devan could be a 60-65 game starter at the NHL level with tremendous size and the ability to hold his team in games. With an improving team you can expect him it to pile up wins, and he has just enough athleticism to make the big saves. Once he irons out his play he could be a fine goalie.
Thank you for reading and don't forget to toss me a follow @JohannesHockey. Let me know who comes next for 'Talent Analysis' and enjoy the long weekend! -J
